We spent Memorial Day weekend at Hunter this year with some of our extended family.  Although the cold and rainy weather kept us mostly inside, we enjoyed spending time together playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, and catching up with each other.

We also fit in some terrific meals including dinner at Jägerberg Beer Hall.  Normally we would have taken the 10 minute walk to the restaurant however it was a bit too cold so we hopped in our cars.  We enjoyed delicious Schnitzels and authentic German beers.  Our group’s favorite was the flight (?) of xxxx, which was big enough for our whole group to get a taste.  Our 8 year old’s favorite part was the mouthwatering Chocolate Lave Cake. The service was top notch and we are excited to return  to see what the ever changing menu looks like next time!

We also stopped by Last Chance Antiques and Cheese Café for a meal.  We weren’t quite sure what to expect from a place which is an eclectic combination of a souvenir store, cheese shop, chocolate shop, bar, restaurant, and live music venue.  That said, it did not disappoint. The owner, Dave, seated us himself and invited anyone in our party who was so inclined to take the stage and play the piano.  Although our daughter was too shy, later in the evening another very talented visitor entertained the dining room with his piano skills.   Between the entertainment, the extensive beer selection, the well curated whiskey list (which included the very hard to find Pappys!), and the tasty food we had a memorable evening and look forward to coming back!
